Network Fundamentals
This course provides a practical introduction to networking fundamentals, covering essential hardware, layout, switches, routers, network types (LAN and WAN), basic configuration settings, protocols, and troubleshooting skills, empowering installers to set up reliable network infrastructures for modern technology needs.
Course Overview
In today’s world, nearly all technology relies on reliable network connectivity, yet many installers lack the foundational networking knowledge needed to set up and support these systems effectively.
The Network Fundamentals course introduces you to the essential hardware, layouts, and communication settings required for building and maintaining networks. This foundation is critical for supporting modern security systems, IT solutions, and smart technologies.
What you will learn
The role of switches, transmission media, connectors, hosts, and routers.
The network hierarchical model, and the differences between LAN (Local Area Networks) and WAN (Wide Area Networks).
How to configure basic communication settings for LAN and WAN environments.
How to identify, assign, and manage IP addresses and subnet masks (static vs. dynamic addressing).
An introduction to common communication protocols and basic troubleshooting techniques.
Learning outcomes
Understand the fundamental requirements for setting up a basic network.
Be able to configure essential communication settings for LAN and WAN environments.
Have the knowledge to troubleshoot and maintain network connectivity in real-world scenarios.
Who Should Enroll
